Information on the credits available in the University of Málaga to holders of official certificates of Cambridge ESOL examinations. According to the latest agreement reached by the Board of Governers of UMA July 2006 and with reference to the joint plan of collaboration signed by the Fundación General de la Universidad de Málaga and the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate 23 Nov.2001 and ratified in 2005 5 University Credits will be awarded for each level to holders of official certificates of INTERMEDIATE B1 UPPER INTERMEDIATE B2 ADVANCED CI PROFICIENCY C2. This will apply to all Faculties but excludes the courses in which English is a core subject (asignatura troncal) as the objective of offering “ creditos de libre configuracion” is to widen the scope of the students studies. The equivalent levels of the Cambridge ESOL examinations are PET B1 FCE B2 CAE C1 CPE C2 What should a holder of a Cambridge Certificate do to avail himself of this agreement ? Taking into account that official certificates in any language other than Spanish tendered for convalidation in the University of Málaga will have to be processed by a Board of Approval , the Fundación General de la Universidad de Málaga ( FGUM) signed an agreement with Cambridge in 2001, ratified in 2005 whereby an official certificate from Cambridge ESOL, levels BI, B2, CI and C2 would automatically warrant the credits which an official certificate from the CENTRO de IDIOMAS FGUM of the corresponding levels would generate in courses where English is not a core subject. To process the credits ; The person interested should first of all approach the secretary's office of his/her Faculty and check whether a certificate in English in the forementioned levels from the CENTRO DE IDIOMAS FGUM will be convalidated for credits in his /her course. If applicable they should then go to the office of the Centro De Idiomas with their Cambridge Certificate and there they will be informed on how to process the credits |
